Special Interests

Congenital Hyperinsulinism, Puberty

Dr Banerjee is a consultant in Paediatric Endocrinology at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH) and was appointed to the post in 2006.

Dr Banerjee is also the clinical lead for the Northern Congenital Hyperinsulinism (NORCHI) service. This service is for treatment of the rare condition of Congenital Hyperinsulinism (CHI), where blood sugar levels can be dangerously low.

Dr Banerjee has a number of administrative and teaching roles in the hospital and University. He supervises doctors training to be consultants and is an Academic Advisor to the Medical School. With other members of the Paediatric Endocrine Team, he maintains a strong research interest, particularly in the field of CHI.

My passion is voluntary work in less developed parts of the world. Some of this work is with the Global Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes (GPED) and with a children’s hospital in Kolkata, India.
