A Malaysian by birth, Dr Skae moved to England to study medicine at Sheffield University and graduated in 1998. She obtained membership to the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and completed her general paediatric training in Manchester.

Dr Skae undertook a Clinical Research Fellowship in congenital hyperinsulinism at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH) and completed an MPhil in Physiology at the University of Manchester (UoM) with Prof Dunne and Dr Cosgrove. She was later appointed to a consultant post in Paediatric Endocrinology at the RMCH.

Dr Skae has developed interests in metabolic bone diseases with particular focus on skeletal dysplasias and is also currently the lead for DSD.

In addition to my clinical role, I am actively involved in the training of junior medical staff and medical students with a keen interest in research through a successful Research for Patient Benefit Grant in Experimental Medicine.
