SCUK Receives ‘Highly Commended’ Honour at HSJ Awards for Staffing Solution of the Year
SCUK were delighted to receive the ‘Highly Commended’ award at the recent HSJ Partnership Awards in the category of Staffing Solution of the Year.
The HSJ Partnership Awards celebrate outstanding collaboration between suppliers and the NHS. More than just an accolade, they serve as a testament to innovation, excellence, and commitment to improving healthcare. Judged by senior NHS figures, including trust chief executives, the awards provide a unique platform for recognition and visibility among those who shape NHS purchasing decisions
The SCUK entry demonstrated how the organisation has made a significant impact in health and care across the NHS and voluntary hospice sector by providing Consultant level palliative care and end of life care advice to teams who previously have had poor or unreliable access to such support.
Over the past few years SCUK has significantly improved access to consultant-led palliative and end-of-life care across the NHS and voluntary hospice sector with flexible, cost-effective solutions which address staffing shortages, helping providers and ICBs meet legal obligations while enhancing clinician education, mentorship, and governance.
Operating 24/7, SCUK supports 151 units under 66 contracts, helping to prevent hospice closures and enabling recruitment of specialist staff. SCUK’s rigorous clinical governance, advanced technology, and continuous performance monitoring uphold quality standards. Beyond staffing, SCUK conducts audits, offers tailored education, and shapes NHS recruitment strategies, influencing workforce support in fields like Paediatric Palliative Care and Acute Oncology.
The HSJ award is valuable recognition of this contribution. Through structured leadership programs, consultant selection, and knowledge-sharing initiatives, we’re proud that SCUK has strengthened palliative care accessibility, reduced costs, and improved patient support, cementing our role as a trusted sector leader.
