Support for patients

We’re working with Vitality medical insurers to provide enhanced supportive care for their members whose cancer isn’t curable. It’s designed to help them live the rest of their lives as well as they can, and make meaningful plans for the time ahead.

Why you might need us

Receiving a terminal diagnosis often raises more questions than answers. What happens next? What medical and financial support is available? How will I tell my family? We’re here to support you through the practical and emotional details, so that you can get your plans in place and make the most of the time you have left.

What we’ll do to help

We’ll put you in touch with a clinical nurse specialist, who has the experience and empathy to understand what you might need. They will be able to talk through any fears or worries you might have, answer your questions about the practicalities, and signpost you to other organisations who might be able to help further.

With you all the way

Here are some of the ways our nurse specialists have supported Vitality patients so far:

Discussing pain relief and ways to bring symptoms under control
Helping plan how to break the news to family and friends
Researching what financial support or allowances might be available
Creating memory boxes and videos for younger children for the future
Exploring the options and practicalities around dying at home
Providing a shoulder to cry on when everything feels too much
Our member is very grateful for the conversations that the initial call and follow-up calls opened up for them as a family. Thank you.
